Hyrum Joseph Scharman, age 84, passed away April 10, 1992 at his home in Salt Lake City.
He was born June 6, 1907 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George and Marie Elizabeth Lecke Scharman. He married Adrienne Adamson, April 19, 1929 in Salt Lake. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Hyrum was the World Welterweight Wrestling Champion. He was also a professional painter. He was employed as a fireman for 20 years, and was active and held offices in firefighters associations. He was an active member of the LDS Church. He was known as a hard worker and a good neighbor and will be missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his children, Geraldine Scharman, Dr. S. Brent Scharman and his wife, Janet, Jack Scharman, daughter in law, Nancy W. Scharman, all Salt Lake; 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Gordon Hy Scharman.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 14, 1992, 12 noon in the Yalecrest 2nd Ward, 1035 So. 1800 East. Friends may call Monday 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 So. 200 East, and Tuesday 10:45-11:45 a.m. at the ward. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
