SHARE UTAH COUNTY GOP CONVENTION IS MAY 26

The Utah County Republican Party will hold a primary convention Tuesday, May 26.

The convention will be held at Timpview High School, 3650 N. 650 East in Provo, starting at 5:45 p.m. More than 1,400 Republicans from throughout Utah County are expected to attend.Steven R. Shallenberger, convention chairman, said Gov. Norm H. Bangerter and Sens. Jake Garn and Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, will attend the convention. Local, county, state and other federal elected officials also will be present.

Republicans will select delegates for the convention in voting-district caucus meetings - formerly called neighborhood mass meetings - at 7 p.m. Monday, April 27. Delegates will select county and state legislative candidates to represent the party in the September primary election.

Delegates also will have the opportunity to discuss and approve the 1992 Republican Party platform.

Members of the convention planning committee include: Raylene Ireland, Ron Fernstedt, Jeff Carneal, Phil Snelgrove, Susan Richards, Joyce Bell, Pearl Rex, Bruce Peacock, Leonard Ellis, Donna Christensen and Marlo Jensen.
