Duke's Christian Laettner and Louisiana State's Shaquille O'Neal were among those selected to the John R. Wooden 1992 All-America team.

The winner of the Wooden Award as the nation's college player of the year will be announced next Wednesday at the Los Angeles Athletic Club.The top five players as voted by 1,000 sportswriters and broadcasters along with their coaches will be in attendance at a news conference.

Wooden, who coached UCLA to 10 NCAA championships in 12 years before retiring in 1975, will present the award.

Selected to the Wooden All-America team along with Laettner and O'Neal were Jimmy Jackson of Ohio State, Harold Miner of Southern Cal, Alonzo Mourning of Georgetown, Calbert Cheaney of Indiana, Todd Day of Arkansas, Bobby Hurley of Duke, Don MacLean of UCLA, Anthony Peeler of Missouri and Walt Williams of Maryland.
