To the editor:

A great disservice was almost done to our state this past legislative session when our representatives tried to ban PhotoCop. Luckily our governor had the foresight to veto this piece of legislation. Bangerter is right - this is a matter that should be left up to local jurisdictions to decide. What I can't understand though is why people are so opposed to it. It has already proven to reduce accidents and lower the average speed of drivers in West Valley. In reading all the arguments in the editorials and in talking with people about this subject, there doesn't seem to be one valid reason to support the removal of PhotoCop. There's nothing tricky, sneaky or unconstitutional about it. It may be a tad impersonal, but so what? You're the one breaking the law.

People just seem to be upset because now they have to be a little more patient and drive safer. I don't think safe driving is something our legislators should be trying to stop. I hope that during their special session, they consider the safety of people living in West Valley, and not just the wants of a vocal minority who would prefer to continue breaking the law.
