It wasn't easy for Carlton Fisk.

He said his return Tuesday night made him so nervous that it left him short of breath."Sure I was nervous, you would think I had never played the game before," said the 44-year-old catcher who had been sidelined since spring training with an injured right foot.

Fisk received a standing ovation in his first time at bat and caught six innings in a win over the California Angels. He was hitless in his three at bats.

"It's a little sore, tomorrow will be a better indicator," said Fisk, who will catch again today against the California Angels and then rest Thursday for re-evaluation.

Fisk said he still has a long way to go to get past the injury which involves a ruptured ligament and a partial tear in the bursa sac.
