Steve Howe, who thinks his latest drug-related suspension is unfair, has turned to the Major League Baseball Players Association in an attempt to be reinstated.
The union filed a grievance Tuesday with management's Player Relations Committee, a day after commissioner Fay Vincent handed the New York Yankees pitcher his seventh suspension for drug- and alcohol-related problems.Arbitrator George Nicolau will hear the case, which according to the collective bargaining agreement must be scheduled within five days.

"This suspension is without just cause within the meaning of the Basic Agreement and arbitation panels' decisions in area of disciplinary suspensions," the grievance said.
