The International Hockey League Board of Governors Tuesday unanimously welcomed the addition of the Cincinnati Cyclones as the 12th member of the IHL.

The Cyclones, along with the Atlanta Knights will begin play in October when the IHL faces off for its 48th season.Cincinnati brings the IHL a long hockey tradition, with previous franchises playing in the IHL (when the Mohawks dominated play from the 1952-53 season through the '58-59 season), American Hockey League, the World Hockey Association, the Central Hockey League and, most recently, the East Coast Hockey League. Playing in the ECHL during the past two seasons, the Cyclones have led the minor leagues in attendance, averaging well over 9,000 fans per game.
