A researcher for Japan's public broadcasting service, NHK, shows off a 40-inch television screen that's a little over 3 inches thick. The thin-screen "plasma-display panel" machine was unveiled Wednesday in Tokyo and is intended for use with high-definition television, which NHK broadcasts eight hours a day.
