Alice Lucile Margetts Oswald, age 93, passed away Monday, June 8, 1992 in Salt Lake City, Utah, of causes incident to age.
She was born December 28, 1898 in Salt Lake City, Utah, daughter of Harry Sumner and Alice Rumel Margetts. She married Andrew B. Oswald, Sr., August 7, 1928, in Salt Lake City. She graduated from the University of Utah and worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Salt Lake City and as Executive Assistant, Utah State Board of Education. For several years she served as Docket Clerk for the Utah State Legislature. Lucile was an officer and member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Salt Lake Mothers Club, Thalia, and Friendship Club. She was also a co-founder of Lambda Phi Lambda, which is now the local chapter Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority at the University of Utah. She later served for many years as a member of the sorority board. She was a long time member of Bonneville Ward of the LDS Church where she served in various leadership positions in the Relief Society.Lucile was a fine lady and very capable in all of her activities, which were always performed in the proper manner. Her warm and outgoing personality and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her. She was always an excellent example of an elegant lady and gracious hostess, particularly to her children and grandchildren.
Survived by her daughter, Alice Joyce Cloward (Robert L.), Spokane, Washington and son, Andrew B. Oswald, Jr. (Carolyn M.), Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, June 15, 1970 and her brothers Harry R., Sumner G. and Lawrence R. Margetts.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 13, 1992, 11 a.m., Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
Without the encumbrance of the frail body and mind, she is now released to be the vibrant, intelligent and gracious lady she was before.
