To the editor:

We have a great deal of respect for Gary Swensen and do not know any of the other members on the board of the Central Valley Water Reclamation Facility, but as homeowners who are forced to pay for the building of these facilities and who must continue to pay to use them, we question the way the board is spending our money (April 30, Deseret News).Perhaps Mr. Dahl has done a decent job in spite of his untruthful posturing, but we are certain he has accepted the wages of a certified engineer. Now the truth is out, he should not be rewarded for pretending to be something he wasn't.

We are hearing too many excuses from public officials these days who overstep the line of honesty and beg for forgiveness only when they are exposed.

Pensions and benefits are too generous even for the honest officials. What do the other employees get? Public officials spending public money seem to have a custom of rewarding their cronies in spite of wrongdoings. It must be a case of giving what they hope to get when they retire.

Is Mr. Fish being paid the same $105,000 they intend to keep paying Mr. Dahl? To do what? Whose idea was it to spice up Mr. Dahl's pension and insurance far above what other public retirees receive? How much are the people who manage these special districts paid?

We applaud Mr. Sadowski's vote and suggest Mr. Swensen and the board rethink their positions and remember whose money they are giving away.
