Gary Swensen has been named chairman of the Central Valley Water Reclamation Facility. Swensen represents the Taylorsville-Bennion Improvement District on the Central Valley Board.

The facility was constructed to combine solid waste treatment facilities for seven water and sewer districts serving the bulk of Salt Lake County. The combined treatment facility was mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency.Since retiring in 1988 as superintendent of Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation, Swensen has been involved in water development. He is a member of the Salt Lake County Water Conservancy District. Swensen has also served as a member of the Granite School District board of education.
