The United States has been through a "me" era. Now the emphasis should shift to "ye" as a new decade of service unfolds, said Danny Morris, as he spoke to his Woods Cross High School classmates.

He focused on a quote from James Angell, "The primary purpose of education is not to learn how to earn your bread, but how to make every bite sweeter."Looking into the future from a nostalgic high school perspective, he advised the Class of 1992 to be true to themselves and their convictions and to take their destiny into their own hands.

Student body President Jon Moody lauded the effort the class already has made to achieve the goal of graduation. The same commitment will carry individual class members forward to the fulfillment of other goals, he said.

He outlined three components of success: Having a clear vision of what one wants to accomplish both in the near term and the long term; setting realistic goals; and a firm commitment to those objectives.

"You can accomplish things beyond your imagination," he said, referring to the theme that has guided the class through the year and carried over to the graduation exercises.

Reverences were presented by Ana Ristic and Ryan Benson and Jeremy Thornock presented a musical number.

Principal J. Wallace Hawkins presented the class to Davis District Superintendent Richard Kendell. Then red-white-and-blue tassels switched sides as jubilant Wood Cross seniors marked a rite of passage into the adult world.
