Israel has denied a U.S. request to question a former air force purchaser in an investigation into the diversion of millions of dollars in foreign aid, Israeli newspapers reported Friday.

The former purchaser, Rami Dotan, allegedly worked with a former General Electric employee to divert U.S. foreign aid to Israel, taking some $10 million in kickbacks and bribes.Dotan was sentenced to 13 years in prison in Israel after pleading guilty in the case.

For two years, the Pentagon and U.S. Justice Department have been investigating the improper diversion of $40 million to $70 million in U.S. aid to Israel.
