Amateur Brad Sutterfield fired a 4-under-par 67 to take the first-round lead at the Provo Open golf tournament Friday.
Sutterfield, a junior-to-be on the BYU golf team, takes a 1-shot lead over Steve Brodie and amateur Mark Domm into today's final round. Brodie, a Provo resident, won the Spanish Oaks and Tri-City tournaments last month.Two strokes back at 69 are Tom Costello and Doug Roberts, while amateur Morgan Brown is another stroke back at 70. Four pros, Brad Hansen, Mike Malaska, Greg Stimpson and host pro Kean Ridd stand at 71.
The leaders will tee off at 3:44 p.m. today.
