Moana Jean Rogers Dearinger, beloved wife of Bishop Jerry Wesley Dearinger, and mother of Lana, Teri (Mrs. Chris Bird), Amy, Steven, Jerry, Jr. (deceased), Brian and Spencer, all of Sandy, died June 11, 1992, at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City from complications of a sudden illness.
Moana was born Oct. 12, 1944, in Nampa, Idaho, to Milford James Rogers and Myrtle Nelson. She was married August 27, 1966 in the Oakland LDS Temple.She is also survived by a brother, Kenneth Rogers of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Pamela Johnson of Pocatello, Idaho; grandson,
Zachariah Bird; mother-in-law, Marguerite Dearinger; and numerous in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Another brother, Jason Van Noy Rogers, died previously.
She was an active member of the Silvercrest Ward of Sandy Canyon View Stake. She served in numerous church callings, including Young Women's president, Primary president, chorister and pianist, Relief Society presidency, and her favorite calling, Primary teacher. She was known for her compassionate service to those in need.
She was educated in Nampa, Idaho, Chicago, Illinois, and Lakewood, Wash. She received her bachelor of arts degree in clothing and textiles from BYU in 1966. She was employed part time by the Utah State School for the Deaf as an instructor, and also served as a foster mother for infants. In addition to playing violin and piano, she was noted for her superb crafting of porcelain dolls.
Services will be held Monday, June 15, 2 p.m., in the LDS Canyon View Stake Center, 9119 South 1300 East, Sandy. Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 10600 South 1700 East, Sun. evening, June 14, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., and at the LDS Church Monday, from 12:30-1:45 p.m., just prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to contribute to the Salt Lake Chapter of the National Association of the Deaf, or to the family for the research of aplastic anemia.
