A man who said he witnessed a murder led police to the body of a man who had been killed with an ax Friday night.

Police found the body of Robert Sutton, 40, in a transient camp east of 300 West on High Avenue (1470 South). He died from blows to the head by an ax at least several hours before Salt Lake police responded at 6:50 p.m., Lt. Dennis Tueller said.Arrested at the scene was David Underdown, 43. The witness, Kenneth Underdown, David's brother, said the victim was shouting threats at him and his brother, Tueller said. His brother picked up the ax thinking he needed to defend himself.

Other residents of the camp were not present when detectives investigated.
