Sidney Lumet is still fuming over a threatened union work stoppage during last year's filming of "A Stranger Among Us" in New York City, and says he won't make any movies in the city for a while.

The filmmaker sent Mayor David Dinkins a letter on Thursday saying he was especially bothered given his long support of the city's film industry.Lumet said members of Local 52 of the Motion Picture Studio Mechanics claimed their contract entitled them to 10 hours pay, even though the job required only four hours work.

The union and the city's film office refused to comment.
