A big week coming up for local bookstores. Several signings, activities and readings are "in store:"
- THE KING'S ENGLISH, 1500 S. 1500 East, will feature children's writer Ann Cannon discussing "Dead Man in Indian Creek" from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17. The hour is part of the the store's summer series for children ($10 to participate for the summer). Cannon's remarks will be for kids 8-11. Call 484-9100.- DESERET BOOK stores will have several activities next week.
On Monday, June 15, Lee Benson and Doug Robinson, authors of "Trials and Triumphs" (stories of Mormon Olympic athletes) will be at the ZCMI mall store along with athletes Ed Eyestone, Paul Cummings and Henry Marsh to sign copies of the book.
At 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 19, Jerry Johnston will sign copies of his Father's Day book, "Dads and Other Heroes," and on Wednesday, June 17, at Deseret Book in Sugarhouse, author Elaine Cannon will speak at 7 p.m.

- SAM WELLER'S ZION BOOK, 254 S. Main, will have Jerry Johnston signing books from noon until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, then John Saul, author of the horror-thriller "Shadows," will be in the store the afternoon of Friday, June 19, to discuss his novel and to sign copies. Call 328-2586.
- FROM WRITTEN WORK TO MOVING IMAGE will be the final offering of the year in the Salt Lake City Art Council season. Scheduled for the Art Barn at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, the session will talk about translating the written word into moving pictures. Call 534-1158 for details.
- UTAH STATE UNIVERSITY will be the site of the 1992 Evans Biography Workshop, June 22-26. Sessions will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in room 202 of the Nutrition & Food Science Building. Guests include Leonard J. Arrington, Linda Newell and F. Ross Peterson, with a keynote address by Thomas G. Alexander.
