In an earlier report, this column misquoted state science adviser Randy Moon about one of the sites chosen by the National Science Foundation for construction of the $192 million Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory. The foundation contacted the Deseret News to say the column was wrong in saying the sites were "St. Louis and Richland, Wash."

Actually, one of the sites is in Livingston, La., not St. Louis. In checking the original notes, it turns out the error was the science writer's, not Moon's. Moon said the site was in Louisiana. But in the notes, that was abbreviated as "louis." Later the writer misread that as meaning St. Louis.
