Members of the University of Utah Lady Utes Gymnastics Team, employees of nine local corporations and 52 non-profit health and human service agencies will meet at Liberty Park on Tuesday, June 16, at 7 a.m., for the United Way of the Great Salt Lake Area Pacesetter 5K Fun Run/Walk.
The event kicks off early United Way "pacesetter" campaigns. The regular campaign begins Sept. 2.All run/walk participants receive breakfast and a prize. Missy Marlowe will present additional prizes in a short ceremony after the race. Categories include running female and male; walking female and male; oldest participant; agency with most participants; organization with most participants; most outrageous athletic outfit; fastest politician; and several surprise categories.
Designated Pacesetter companies are American Heart Association, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, EIMCO PEC, FHP Health Care, Franklin Quest, Mervyn's, Nationwide Insurance, Salt Lake Airport Authority, Snowbird and United Way.
