Alton B. Decker, age 75, died peacefully after a stroke, September 7, 1992, in The Veterans Hospital in Grand Junction.

Born September 25, 1916 in Snowflake, Arizona, to James Alvin and Lora Mabel Saltzgiver Decker. Seeking better education for themselves and their children, they moved to Salt Lake City in the late 1920's. Alton matriculated at South High School during the 1st year of it's existence, and graduated after 2nd year on 6/2/33. An Elder in the LDS Church, he filled an honorable mission to the East Central States 1934-1936. He was a Veteran of World War II, 1941-45. He acheived a Captaincy via OCS. He saw action in London England and later Belgium. Returned to the U of U, graduating at the same commencement as his father on 6/14/47. Married November 8, 1941 to Luane Kennelly. A son Alton B. Jr. (Tony) was born on his father's birthday in 1948. Luane and Alton were later divorced. Married Sarah Wolf, September 25, 1974 in Grand Junction, and called it home until the day of his death.Survived by five Decker grandchildren, Benjamin, Andrew, Jennifer, Nathan, and Sam, (Haydee their mother), a sister, Wila Hamilton, Madeira, Ohio; two brothers, Blaine A., of North Salt Lake; Marshall S., Salt Lake City; maternal aunt, Grace S. Hansen.

Among other accomplishments, he was an ACBL Member, Life Master and Teacher.
