Armenian reinforcements poured into the Nagorno-Karabakh enclave inside Azerbaijan Monday to defend against a four-day-old Azerbaijani counterattack seeking to retake the region.

On Monday much of the fighting centered on the Armenian defense of a strategic hilltop village, which if captured by the Azerbaijanis would enable their forces to resume shelling of Stepanakert, the regional capital.Armenian fighters were reported to have retaken a settlement that Azerbaijani forces had overrun two days earlier in the 4-year-old fight for Nagorno-Karabakh.
