The Salt Lake County Sheriff's department has announced the winners of its 1991 team citation awards.

Sgt. Mike Parr and deputies Bruce Clements, Jeff Smith, Larry Taylor and Mike Smith were recognized for preventing a gang fight and possible shooting at Hillcrest High School.Lieutenants Bernard Bailey and George Sinclair and detectives Robert Mitchell, Ben Forbes Jr. and Bart Palmer were recognized for apprehending suspects in a burglary in progress.

Sgt. James Farrington, Cpl. Rick Somers, deputies Paul Maxwell and Jeff Itami, and I.D. technicians John Bell, Dennis Knudsen and Vern Beesley were recognized for team effort beyond the call of duty assisting on homicide investigations and learning and implementing the latest technologies.

Sgts. Andrew Burton and Rob Petersen, and deputies Rob Jack and Kevin Peterson were recognized for rescue efforts in an avalanche in Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Detective Troy Naylor, Todd Gamble, Cpl. Les Newren, and deputies Gene Van Rosendaal Jr., Joe Sharp and Corey Latham were recognized for apprehending suspects in a burglary in progress.

And deputies Steve Winters, Gene Van Rosendaal Jr., James Potter and Reserve Deputy Vatau Su'a were recognized for preventing suicide under dangerous circumstances.
