Brigham Young University has a new academic vice president to replace Stan L. Albrecht, who resigned to return to teaching.

Todd A. Britsch, associate academic vice president, will step into Albrecht's position, President Rex E. Lee announced last week. The university's Board of Trustees approved the change, effective at the beginning of fall semester in September. Lee has not announced a successor to Britsch.Albrecht has served as an administrator for nine years; first as chairman of the sociology department, then as dean of the College of Family, Home and Social Sciences. He was a vice president for three years.

"Serving with the Rex Lee administration has been one of the great joys and honors of my life," he said. "I now look forward to returning to the faculty and continuing with the things I got into this business to do in the first place - teaching and working with students."

"He's doing what he believes in," Lee said. The president said he will miss Albrecht's contribution to the administration and his friendship.

Lee said Britsch has extraordinary talent and ability. He called the new vice president a scholar, teacher and administrator.
