Southern Utah University honored four citizens with Distinguished Service Awards during combined baccalaureate and vocational graduation exercises June 5.
The SUU awards were presented to Homer and Belle Jones, Neone F. Jones and Edythe Katz at outdoor ceremonies beginning at 7 p.m. on the campus' upper quad. "The Distinguished Service Award honors citizens who have made outstanding contributions to their communities and to the university," said SUU President Gerald R. Sherratt.
Homer Jones turned a youthful interest in photography into a successful business and national professional recognition. Belle Jones has been active in many civic and religious capacities.
Originally from Salt Lake City, Neone Jones has had an interest in music, medical service and civic activity throughout her life.
Born in Boston, Katz has spent most of her life in Las Vegas, where she has been a leader in secular and religious affairs.
