Four students from Salt Lake's Highland Park Elementary School, 1738 E. 2700 South, joined 1,000 student problem-solvers from the United States, Canada and Australia at the Future Problem Solving Program International Conference June 12-15.

Coached by Kasi Parara, Highland Park students Melissa Christensen, Tom Benzon, Jamie O'Rourke and Amy White represented Utah at the 18th annual conference, held at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

The Highland Park team and the other teams at the international conference worked on problems associated with the topic of advertising. The Future Problem Solving Program is a yearlong educational program in which capable students are challenged to solve problems in different topics of global significance, which change each year.
