Newman Elementary School students double as Lego-maniacs, learning math and science while developing and operating projects such as race cars zooming up a ramp to a machine tied into a computer. The Rose Park school has used $200,000 from the state's Education Technology Initiative to turn its classrooms into laboratories where students build and test ideas. See "Class Acts" on Page B3.
