Rita Moreno, Vikki Carr, comedian Paul Rodriguez and Mambo king Tito Puente were among those entertaining President Bush at a fund-raiser for the National Hispanic Scholarship Fund and Ford's Theatre.
The hosts for the show were Jimmy Smits of "L.A. Law" and "Fantasy Island" star Ricardo Montalban.ABC will air the show July 11.
Bush seemed to have Congress in mind when he addressed the audience.
"Actually, Ricardo . . . we have our own fantasy island right here in Washington," he said to Montalban.
He turned to magician David Copperfield and described him as "a man who can make just about anything disappear."
"I wonder, David . . . do you free-lance?" he asked.
WEDNESDAY: The World Forum, sponsored by the American Enterprise Institute and hosted by former President Gerald Ford, will be held in Vail, Colo., bringing together former European leaders and U.S. officials, including Defense Secretary Dick Cheney and EPA administrator William Riley.
THURSDAY: Russian President Boris Yeltsin will visit Kansas for the day.
