Cherry trees in the foreground and a fresh cap of snow, resembling a creamy topping on Mount Timpanogos, form a dessertlike picture of this Orem orchard. Last weekend's storm left an estimated foot of snow on Timp and 0.69 of an inch of rain in the north Orem area. The storm, which left 1.52 inches of rain in north Ogden and 2.70 on Ben Lomond Peak, was welcomed by most people, although it had some growers wondering if cherry and other crops would be damaged. Temperatures have started to climb again following the storm. The high reading Monday afternoon was 65 degrees in Orem. By Wednesday afternoon the temperature should reach the low 70s in Utah County and along the Wasatch Front, said William J. Alder, meteorologist in charge of the Salt Lake office of the National Weather Service.
