To the editor:

One of the most important elective offices for the citizens of Utah is that of attorney general. The way he or she applies the law to state problems and administers the office affects each of us.A person for that office is needed with experience on a state level, who has had to deal directly with our problems, and who has the administrative ability to conduct the affairs of one of the largest law firms in the area. Experience in trying a multitude of traffic violations and misdemeanor cases is not adequate preparation for giving legal guidance at the top echelon of government.

Michael Deamer is a person who meets the qualifications we need. For a number of years, I worked with him in the office of the attorney general. He ably represented various state agencies and served as chief deputy attorney general with administrative control over more than 70 attorneys. He is an outstanding attorney, a person of absolute integrity, and he has the experience and ability to perform as our attorney general the day he takes office.

I urge all voters to compare the qualifications of the various candidates and support Michael Deamer for attorney general.
