Residents of Salt Lake County live in some of the most populous and most crowded communities in Utah.

According to an analysis of 1990 Census data, if all of Salt Lake County's communities - both unincorporated and incorporated - are ranked, they fill almost half of the list of Utah's 25 most populous places. The state's most populous cities included Salt Lake City, West Valley City, Provo, Sandy, Orem and Ogden. If included with the incorporated cities, Taylorsville-Bennion would be the seventh-largest community in Utah.

The unincorporated areas of Millcreek, Cottonwood Heights, Kearns, East Millcreek, Magna and South Cottonwood would also rank among the 25 largest.

Layton, Bountiful and Clearfield are the only Davis communities among the 25 most populous areas.
