To the editor:

B.K. Wallace made a good point in his letter (Forum, June 3) when he said that Scott Pierce has lost touch with reality because there isn't that much difference in the world today between fact and fiction. This has to do with Dan Quayle's objection to Murphy Brown being held up as some kind of a heroine because she, a fictional character, decided against abortion. The decision against abortion was commendable - but the fornication that brought it on was not. Dan Quayle was objecting to making a fornicator a national heroine, fictional or not.

But Wallace also is out of touch. He spoiled his point when he went on to say that in spite of the fornication, his family "still enjoys watching episodes of `Murphy.' "

The immorality in this country is continually accepted by those who pretend to be moral. Why do moral people not boycott the shows that present immorality as an acceptable lifestyle? There may not be enough moral people to force the shows off the air, but at least there would be less hypocrisy.
