Visitations increased 32 percent at the Fremont Indian State Park in south-central Utah during the first four months of 1992.
Park Superintendent Gordon Topham said he anticipates visitations this year will exceed 100,000. Last year's visitors numbered about 88,000.Topham said more than 2,500 students from some 30 Utah schools, ranging from Morgan on the north to St. George on the south, participated in the park's special school field trip in the spring. Volunteers who work at the park during the summer willingly aided the school visitors.
Daily guided walks are conducted at the park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the peak visitation months and the visitor center museum is open from 9 a.m to 6 p.m.
The park also displays works of area artists. On display through July 5 are Indian subjects and scenery of the Sevier County area painted by Randy Owns, a former resident now studying art in southern California.
Topham also said a new service of mountain bike rental is available. Bicycles may be rented through the concessionaire by the hour or by the day.
Park fees are $1.50 for visitors age 16 and over and $1 for those six to 16. Under six and 62 or older are admitted free. The fee policy also sets a maximum charge of $6 per vehicle.
