Two high school seniors, Michael W. Durham, Timpview, and Stephanie Thompson, Alta, received AP State Scholar Awards as a result of their outstanding performance on Advanced Placeement examinations.

In a release from Gov. Norm Bangerter's office, Durham and Thompson are mentioned as two of 114 students from throughtout the nation who achieved an average grade of 3 or higher on the greatest number of AP exams.AP testing offers students the opportunity to receive credit or advanced placement for college-level courses and examinations completed in secondary school. The National Educational Goals Panel uses AP participants and performances as a national indicator of educational achievement.
