A Swedish police officer holds a knife taken from an English soccer fan who was arrested Thursday when unrest started after Sweden's team defeated England 2-1 to eliminate England from the European Championships. Police in riot gear congregated around the central train station to escort the English fans onto a special train to take them to Helsingborg en route home. The train left more than an hour late after a number of fans were rounded up from the beer tent erected especially for the 17-day event. Police also appeared to be concerned with keeping rival groups of fans apart in an effort to prevent violence, rather than making mass arrests. Some 3,000 English fans were kept locked in the stadium for a half-hour after the game ended.
