The "Sweetest Music This Side of Heaven" returns to Salt Lake City Friday, June 19, when Guy Lombardo's Royal Canadians with Al Pierson appears at the University of Utah's Union Ballroom at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 and $10.

Sponsored in part by the Deseret News, KDYL, KXIV-TV and Repertory Dance Theatre (RDT), the Lombardo band will play for a dance with all the old Lombardo tunes, including "Seems Like Old Times," "Boo-Hoo," "Coquette," "Give Me a Little Kiss" and "Annie Doesn't Live Here Anymore."RDT will host a reception before the dance at the Art Barn, 54 Finch Lane, adjacent to the U. campus. A light buffet will be served, and transportation to the dance will be provided from the Art Barn to the ballroom. A portion of the proceeds will support RDT's 1992-93 season.

Guy Lombardo's Royal Canadians are nostalgically remembered for playing at New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel on New Year's Eve for many years. Lombardo was a master at picking the right tempo for dancing.

The baton and responsibility of carrying on the late Guy Lom-bardo's tradition has passed to Al Pierson with the endorsement of Lombardo's family.
