Dr. Joseph Robison Murphy, 66, died Wednesday, June 17, 1992.
He was born June 14, 1925 at Salt Lake City, Utah to Albert and Juanita Robison Murphy. He married Marlene Menlove June 15, 1990 at Teton County, Jackson, Wyoming.Reared and educated in Long Beach, California where he graduated from Polytechnic High School, Dr. Murphy then served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He received additional education: B.A. (with honors) Brigham Young University; M.A. Brigham Young University; PhD University of Nebraska. He has received many academic honors and traveled extensively as a specialist and lecturer in his chosen field of work. Dr. Murphy was employed at Brigham Young University, University of Nebraska and the U.S. National Park Service.
Surviving family members include his wife, Marlene, Yorba Linda, California; four sons, one daughter, three step-children; Joel B. Murphy and wife, Sharon, Pleasant Grove, Utah; Robert Murphy and wife, Dawn, Provo, Utah; David Murphy, Van Nuys, California; Phillip Murphy and wife, Miriame; Douglas DeTavis and wife, Janice, Anaheim Hills, California; Michele Lang and husband, Stee, Placentia, California and Mike DeTavis, Yorba Linda, California. Also his mother, Juanita Murphy, St. George, Utah and fourteen grandchildren.
