Thieves ignored computers and other expensive equipment but stole an office cat named Bucky, along with his litter box, toys, snacks, food dish and even his overnight bag.
The catnappers also stole a delivery truck from the company, Admiral Air, perhaps to carry Bucky's luggage. The truck and some of Bucky's toys were recovered early Thursday and some suspects were arrested, but police didn't recover Bucky, said Dianna Crowe, co-owner of Admiral Air, which had adopted the 6-year-old cat.
"We don't care about the truck; we just want our cat back," she said.
Bucky is no prize, his puzzled owners said. He is a black and white alley cat with a battle-torn left ear.
That didn't seem to bother the thieves. They took Bucky's litter box, about 20 of his toys, his food and snacks, his food dish and even the overnight bag he uses when Sharon Hashem, the firm's telemarketing director, takes him home on weekends.
The thieves also took some petty cash, soft drinks and electronic items.
Crowe and Hashem said they think Bucky's affectionate nature probably charmed the burglars into taking him.
"He's very lovable and if a person walks in, he'll just rub against their ankles," Hashem said.
