To the editor:
I was upset when I read the June 5 article in the Deseret News about the candidate polls. Joe Cannon made a comment about Bob Bennett being strange for releasing a poll that showed him in second place.I think Bennett was smart to release a poll that showed numbers other than what Cannon's pollsters have been releasing all along.
Cannon has been sending out letters saying how he is against negative campaigning, but after reading this comment, I realized that he is not only negative but he is also afraid of healthy competition. If he is so above all of the campaign negativity, he ought to know that you cannot succeed by knocking someone else down.
By releasing the poll, Bennett showed that he is not only not afraid of a little competition but he is also the only viable candidate that has not sent me anything negative or whining.
This is the time that we state delegates should explore our options and prepare to make an important decision. The candidates are under a tremendous amount of stress as the state convention draws near; under this pressure some are cracking.
