As Salt Lake City police responded to a possible sexual molestation call Friday afternoon, the suspect slit his wrists in an apparent suicide attempt.

Police were interviewing the father of a 13-month-old girl who said he walked into his neighbor's house, in the area of North Temple and 800 West, and found the man engaged in sexual acts with the child, according to Salt Lake Police Lt. Dennis Tueller. The 24-year-old neighbor, who had been baby-sitting the little girl, slit his wrists when he saw police enter the home next door at about 4:45 p.m.Officers went to the suspect's house, stopped the bleeding of "superficial" cuts and called for an ambulance, Tueller said. The suspect was released from LDS Hospital and booked into Salt Lake County Jail.
