Melvin Carter Cornwall, age 92, a lifetime resident of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away June 17, 1992 in Belmont, Massachusetts.
He was born June 12, 1900 at Mill Creek, Salt Lake County, Utah to Joseph Alexander and Mary Ellen Spencer Cornwall. Married Millicent Dewsnup on May 29, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on March 31, 1991.Member of the Salt Lake Tabernacle Choir for more than 25 years. Active in Scouting for more than 60 years and was recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. Active in church auxiliary organizations, particularly in the field of music. Host at Visitor's Center on Temple Square. Member of Sugarhouse and Salt Lake Chapters, Sons of Utah Pioneers.
Survived by a son, M. Carter Cornwall of Belmont, Mass.; a daughter, Ellen Cornwall Dance of Austin, Texas; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services Wednesday, June 24th, at 12 noon, Ensign 3rd Ward, 9th Avenue and K Streets. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Tuesday evening 6-8 p.m., and at the Ward on Wednesday, 11-11:45 a.m. Interment in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
