Arby's restaurants nationwide will serve meals to needy families beginning in July.
Arby's "Neighbors in Need Program" will help families in crisis situations like job loss, work reduction and health problems. Each restaurant will select a local social service agency or religious organization that already works with families in need and will distribute weekly meal cards to needy families. Lunch and dinner will be provided for all family members for up to one month, and each restaurant will assist a different family each month.A recent Roper Report found that three in 10 households experienced some sort of unemployment problem in the past six months.
The 250 corporate-owned restaurants alone expect to feed more than 3,000 families throughout the next year. Many franchises will also participate.
