SHARE FIRE VICTIM REMAINS CRITICAL AT U. HOSPITAL

A 39-year-old man injured in a Thursday night apartment fire remained in critical but stable condition Saturday at the University Hospital's Intermountain Burn Center.

Michael Phillip Harris suffered smoke inhalation and burns over 6 percent of his body during the blaze, which started shortly before midnight. Firefighters reported Harris was asleep in the bedroom of his apartment at 701 N. 300 West when the fire started in a living-room chair.Harris was alone at the time, and four Salt Lake firefighters pulled him from the burning apartment.

Investigators said they believe a cigarette started the fire, which caused about $10,000 worth of damage to the dwelling and its contents.
