Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, may have grown up in a home without an indoor bathroom. But in the Senate full of millionaires, he's been named "most dapper" for his choice of wardrobe.
That's according to the annual best and worst list chosen by congressional offices and published by Washingtonian Magazine.Hatch tied for that honor with Sen. John Warner, R-Va. - a flashy Southern gentleman who was once married to actress Elizabeth Taylor.
Hatch also finished in a second-place tie when staffers were asked to name a "straight arrow" in the Senate. Sen. Paul Simon, D-Ill., finished first, and Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., tied with Hatch for second.
On the downside, a survey of the magazine's readers lists Hatch as No. 3 on its list of worst senators. Some consolation for him, though, was that his arch-rival, Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., finished No. 2. Sen. Jesse Helms, R-N.C., was the worst.
