Salt Lake City is hoping the Utah Sports Authority will decide to put an Olympic skating oval there. If that happens, the city will raze the apartments and hope a developer will build high-rent apartments around the oval instead.

City officials said they won't consider the county's request until after the Sports Authority decides next month where to place the oval, which will be built regardless of whether the city wins the bid for the 2002 Winter Games.
