SHARE FUNERAL SET FOR HAROLD HANSEN, FORMER Y. PROFESSOR

Funeral services are today for former Brigham Young University faculty member Harold Ivan Hansen, 78, who died June 23, 1992, in Provo.

Dr. Hansen received his bachelor of arts degree from Utah State Agricultural College in 1937 and continued his education at the University of Iowa where he received his master's and doctorate. In 1971, he received the Karl G. Maeser Distinguished Teacher Award from BYU.Dr. Hansen started the first Independence Day Production in BYU Stadium and taught at Utah State, Michigan State, the University of Iowa and BYU in drama and theater art. He taught seminary in Big Horn, Wyoming and Bear River and in 1937-1940 served an Eastern States Mission, where his first assignment was to direct the Hill Cumorah Pageant.

Funeral will be at noon today in the Edgemont 3rd Ward chapel, 2950 N. Canyon Road, Provo. Friends may call one hour before the funeral. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial.

In lieu of flowers, family members suggest contributions to the Educational Theater Scholarship of Harold I. and Betty K. Hansen at BYU, c/o Derek Spriggs.
