To the editor:
Within the past few months, I have golfed many city courses in the nation, including some that our current mayor would lead us to believe are much more expensive than Salt Lake City's courses.I golfed one of the most beautiful city courses I've ever seen for $7 per nine holes. It's a course next to Coco Palms Hawaii. I golfed at another "Palms" two blocks from the Scottsdale city limits in Arizona for $7.50 per nine holes in February. Lakeshore in Raleigh, N.C., was $6 per nine.
These three communities all have a higher cost of living than Salt Lake City. All have higher per capita incomes. As is well-publicized, Salt Lake City already has a higher total tax to income ratio than almost any other state.
How inconsiderate and flagrant of our mayor to shove down our throats the deception that our city green fees are lower than other major cities and are fair game to increase. I know firsthand it is a lie.
