Tim Allen isn't afraid of ruining his image as TV's swaggering klutz by revealing that his favorite class in school was shop.
"I loved making stuff . . . the saws, the wrenches and the smell of those places, but I hated the teachers," Allen says in the June 28 issue of People magazine.Allen, 39, who plays the clumsy star of a home-repair show on the ABC sitcom "Home Improvement," said he was the class cutup.
It was humor that helped him get along when he spent more than two years in prison beginning in 1980 for drug offenses.
"Humor was the only defense I had," Allen said. "Two minutes after I was there, I started babbling. So everyone knew I was a geek right away."
