SHARE STATE PRISON INMATE DIES AFTER HAVING CHEST PAINS

A Utah State Prison inmate died Tuesday morning after complaining of chest pains.

Robert Gallegos, 47, Ogden, complained of pain about 4:50 a.m. as prison guards were making routine rounds at the Wasatch Facility at Point of the Mountain. Gallegos was taken to the infirmary, and paramedics and a helicopter ambulance were summoned.Gallegos arrived at University Medical Center at 6:25 a.m. and was pronounced dead 30 minutes later.

He was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison in April 1985 for sodomy of a child. His next parole hearing was April 2003.
