An Ogden construction firm has won a contract to construct a new court facility in Fillmore at a price tag of $1,569,000. Construction is expected to begin in early July.
The contract was awarded to Stacey Enterprises, low bidder among a dozen construction companies. An actual low bid of $1,180,000 was submitted by Blaine L. Wadman Construction, but a computer error was found and the actual bid was $1,607,000. It was withdrawn. The bid submitted by Stacey Enterprises was only $10,728 less than the second low bidder, M-13 Construction Inc. The high bid was $1,727,000.
The court building will be near the public safety building, replacing inadequate facilities at the Millard County Courthouse in downtown Fillmore. It will provide increased security during court proceedings.
The building to house the courts will be constructed near the public safety building in the south sector of the city. A basement will also be included, to be used as a command post in the event of a major disaster.
